People arrive around noon and mingle and dig into a free potluck until about 1, when the presentations begin. Four or five speakers give talks, performances, or propose projects. Instead of a Q&A, the speakers re-enter the audience for the last hour of the brunch, where everyone is buzzing with ideas and coffee.
Is it really free? Yes, but we are a participatory organization. Most people bring something to share -- ideas, food, or sometimes help setting up or breaking down. Brunch has been self-supporting for a while thanks to voluntary small contributions when we pass the hat around, but no one is obligated to contribute anything. But don't forget to bring your own coffee cup, plate and fork! Otherwise you'll get to eat out of a cabbage leaf.
